Close enough?

Am reaching out to you,

It seems  that am missing you, like crazy.

As I try to get close to you

Damn! I need you..

But I find the more I  walk toward you, the more you  slip through my fingers.

I know  I haven’t been  a friend of  late

My actions make me feel like I  put me in jail.

Can’t get to you even though I punch that wall till the impact chews to my knuckles.

Truth is, even if you are close to  me it feels like I have to cross  this mountain,

And that makes me hopeless

I get so thoughtless

I go on a rampage,

With brandy in my blood channel

My mind in a frenzy, and your picture engraved in my eyes, am weary.

Its not that I cant be with you its just that am lost  without you

Alone and wanting you, but not knowing how you feel is basically

Putting a sailor in world without an ocean

Grasping at straws

Everybody always  smile in times  of trouble to show  that that trouble doesn’t shake them.
But facing that demon is not always a walk in the park

Hell you couldn’t even raise a grain of sand when facing some problems.

So you turn desperate, from sweet to  sour.

Some comes and tells you, “don’t show your back to your friends, you never know how many knives may go through.”

So you protect yourself by aligning yourself to the wall.

Hoping that the ball won’t roll, on you.

Even if you see no chance of survival, you still claw your way up the sink hole

Joe Frazier went at it  with Mohammed Ali,

Toe to toe with this giant badly.

But he knew that was the last time def kweli.

Though he threw those punches for his life, his legacy

He earned his place in the wall of legends, the guy who went at it with the charismatic Mohammed Ali.

So fight your way through, you might come out in beast mode

Thrive after you come out of that hole that you struggle tooth and nail to get out of…

Band of Brothers

A first glance full of unease and mistrust.

Dropped in a world where one lives alone and dies alone.

A world where one  depending on others is signing their death certificate.

I was placed in groups of four as the war broke across the  world.

“trust is earned… ” that is indeed a true statement.

In a war where death is assured yet no choice but to engage, time seems to fly ever so without a trace

We grew  together without realizing it.

We would come to each other’s aid when we saw fit.

And fought each other when one was wrong.

A day long lost to the sound of bullets and explosives, a sacrifice made for the sake of his friends,

The one time we showed emotions to each other

Upon Baileth’s last breaths, in the cover of rables,

As we lay on the ground firing back at the enemy as they sullied forward and clearly at an advantage with numbers.

He said ” of all the days in my mudded years, am going to laugh at this moment the most,”

Puzzled by his comment we let him rant some more as we continued to fight back.

“Aahh… Its been fun this here journey  with you, you’re all my brothers, I couldn’t ask for more.

You’ll hate me for this but this is here is my thanks for the good times we have had. I’ll be seeing you at the end.”

With that,  before we could  stop the guy, he rose and sprinted  away from us drawing the fire with him.

Helpless  we saw him take those shots but didn’t flatter, kept running,

I tried to  run after him but strong hands grabbed me and dragged me away.

At the very last moment he turned as he fell showing  visibly that he was smiling.

Hmmm that guy forever engraved in my heart that memory of him, even in death he smiled in front of his brothers so as they don’t wory or blame themselves.

We may be far from each other but I will be forever  grateful as they taught me  a great deal, they are not only my friends  but my  brothers to the very end,  and he, Baileth, my hero.
